Fast Hive reseller hosting gives you WHM to manage every account in your pool, and a free WHMCS licence to automate the selling. This guide covers the practical side of WHM: building hosting packages, creating accounts for clients, setting the limits that protect your pool, and handling suspensions and terminations.

How the pieces fit together
  • WHM - your control panel. You create and manage all client accounts here.
  • cPanel - what each of your clients gets, one per account.
  • WHMCS - billing and automation. It can create WHM accounts automatically when a client orders.

Logging in to WHM

  1. Sign in at my.fasthive.com and open your reseller service from My Products & Services.
  2. Click Login to WHM.

Alternatively, browse directly to port 2087:

https://your-server-hostname:2087

Step 1 - Create your hosting packages first

A package is a reusable template of limits. Define these before you create any accounts, so every client is provisioned consistently.

  1. In WHM, go to Packages → Add a Package.
  2. Give it a clear name such as starter, business or agency. This name appears in your clients' cPanel, so keep it presentable.
  3. Set the resource limits:
Setting Guidance
Disk QuotaAlways set a number. Unlimited accounts in a finite pool means one client can exhaust it for everyone.
Monthly BandwidthGenerous but finite. It is your early warning that a site has become popular or is being abused.
Max Addon / Parked / Sub DomainsSet according to the tier you are selling. This is often the main differentiator between your plans.
Max Email AccountsA cap here limits the damage if one mailbox password is compromised.
Max DatabasesAllow enough for a few sites plus staging copies.
Max Hourly EmailKeep this modest. It is your single best protection against a compromised account damaging the server's mail reputation.
Shell AccessOff by default. Enable per account only when a client genuinely needs it.

Step 2 - Create the account

  1. Go to Account Functions → Create a New Account.
  2. Domain - the client's domain, without www.
  3. Username - WHM suggests one from the domain. Keep it, so accounts stay easy to identify later.
  4. Password - use the generator and record it in your password manager before leaving the page.
  5. Email - the client's own contact address, so cPanel notices reach them rather than you.
  6. Package - select the one you created in Step 1.
  7. Settings - choose the cPanel theme and locale.
  8. DNS Settings - leave the defaults unless you are running your own private nameservers.
  9. Click Create. WHM sets up the account, the DNS zone and the welcome email.
White label from the start. Your clients should never see Fast Hive - not in the nameservers, not in cPanel, not on the bill. Set up your own private nameservers, brand cPanel with your logo, and send welcome emails from your own domain. The companion article on private nameservers covers the DNS side.

Step 3 - Day-to-day account management

Task Where in WHM
See all accounts and usageAccount Information → List Accounts
Change a client's packageAccount Functions → Upgrade/Downgrade an Account
Change a client's passwordAccount Functions → Password Modification
Log in to a client's cPanelList Accounts → the cPanel icon beside the account
Suspend for non-paymentAccount Functions → Suspend/Unsuspend an Account
Terminate an accountAccount Functions → Terminate an Account
Move an account in or outTransfers → Transfer or Restore a cPanel Account
Watch pool usageServer Status → and the disk usage view in List Accounts

Suspending versus terminating

Suspension is reversible. The site goes offline, mail stops being delivered, and the data stays intact. This is what you use for an overdue invoice.

Termination deletes the account and everything in it. Take a full backup first and keep it for a defined period - clients return weeks later asking for their data far more often than you would expect.

Write your suspension policy down and follow it. How many days after the due date, how many reminders, and how long before termination. Publish it in your terms. Ad-hoc decisions cause disputes; a documented policy resolves them.

Step 4 - Automating with WHMCS

Your reseller plan includes a free WHMCS licence. Connecting it to WHM means orders provision themselves.

  1. In WHM, create an API token under Development → Manage API Tokens.
  2. In WHMCS, add your server under System Settings → Servers, using the cPanel module with the hostname and API token.
  3. Create products that map to your WHM packages, matching the package names exactly.
  4. Set the product to auto-setup on payment.
  5. Place a test order end to end before you take a real one.

Troubleshooting

Symptom Cause and fix
"You have reached your account limit" Your reseller pool is at its cPanel account ceiling. Upgrade the pool, or free space by terminating dormant accounts.
"Domain already exists" The domain or its DNS zone is still present from a previous account. Remove the leftover zone under DNS Functions.
Account created but the site does not load The client's domain is not pointing at your nameservers yet. Send them the nameserver details and allow for propagation.
Client cannot receive email Check the MX records in the DNS zone, and whether the account is over quota. A full account rejects mail.
Pool disk usage rising unexpectedly Sort by disk usage in List Accounts. It is usually one account with runaway logs, old backups, or a mailbox nobody empties.
One client's site is spamming Suspend immediately, then investigate. The whole server's mail reputation is at stake, which affects every one of your clients.
WHMCS orders are not provisioning Check the server connection test in WHMCS, confirm the API token is still valid, and check the package names match exactly.

Frequently asked questions

How many accounts can I create?

It depends on your reseller tier - plans start at 25 cPanel accounts. Your current usage and remaining headroom are shown on your service page.

Can my clients see that Fast Hive is behind the service?

Not if you white-label properly: your own private nameservers, your branding in cPanel, and your own domain on emails and invoices. We stay invisible by design.

Do I support my own clients, or do you?

You are their provider, so client-facing support is yours. Our engineers are behind you 24/7 for anything at the server level - performance, networking, or problems you cannot resolve in WHM.

Can I move existing accounts from another host?

Yes. Use Transfers → Transfer or Restore a cPanel Account, or open a ticket and our team will help with the migration.

What happens to my clients if I upgrade my reseller plan?

Nothing visible to them. Upgrading raises your pool limits; accounts keep running throughout.

Should I overcommit resources across clients?

Modestly, as all hosting does. But set real per-account quotas rather than unlimited ones - the ceiling is what stops one client's problem becoming everyone's.

Server-level problem? Open a ticket with Technical Support at My Support Tickets with the affected cPanel username and what you have already checked in WHM. For questions about pool sizing or upgrades, ask Sales & Solutions.
