Renewals, upgrades and cancellations all change what you are billed and when. This guide explains how each one works at Fast Hive, what the 30-day money-back guarantee covers, and the timing details that decide whether a cancellation takes effect immediately or at the end of your paid term.

Two commitments worth knowing up front: there is a 30-day money-back guarantee on hosting, and no first-year-only pricing - the rate you see in year one is the rate you see in year two. There are no setup fees and no forced upsells at renewal.

How renewals work

  • An invoice is generated ahead of the due date so you have time to pay before the service renews.
  • If you have a stored payment method set as default, it is charged automatically.
  • Reminder emails are sent to the contacts configured to receive billing notices.
  • An unpaid invoice past its due date can lead to suspension, and eventually to termination.

Turning automatic renewal on or off

  1. Sign in and open My Products & Services (or My Domains for a domain).
  2. Select the item.
  3. Toggle the auto-renew setting.
Leave auto-renew ON for domains. Hosting can be restored from a backup if it lapses. A lapsed domain can be registered by someone else, and recovering it during the redemption period is expensive when it is possible at all.

Upgrading and downgrading

  1. Open the service in My Products & Services.
  2. Choose the upgrade or change-package option in the Actions panel.
  3. Select the new plan. You will see a prorated amount covering the price difference for the remainder of the current term.
  4. Pay the invoice. The change applies once payment clears.
Change What to expect
Shared hosting tier change Applied on the same account. No migration, no downtime, nothing to rebuild.
Shared hosting to VPS A different product, so it involves a migration. Our team handles the move - open a ticket first so it is planned rather than rushed.
VPS resource scaling CPU and memory scale from the panel, with billing following by the hour rather than the year. One reboot applies it.
Reseller pool increase Raises your limits. Existing client accounts keep running throughout.
Downgrade Check your current usage first. Downgrading below your actual disk or resource use causes problems immediately.

Cancelling a service

  1. Open the service in My Products & Services.
  2. Click Request Cancellation in the Actions panel.
  3. Choose the cancellation type:
    • End of Billing Period - the service runs until the term you have already paid for expires. This is almost always the right choice.
    • Immediate - the service is terminated as soon as the request is processed.
  4. Add a reason if you wish, and submit.
Take a full backup before cancelling, and verify it. Termination removes your files, databases and mailboxes. Download a full account backup from cPanel, open the archive on your own machine to confirm it is complete, and only then submit the cancellation. This is not recoverable afterwards.

Before you cancel, consider

  • Your domain is a separate service. Cancelling hosting does not cancel the domain, and vice versa - cancel each deliberately.
  • Email hosted on the account stops when it terminates. Export mailboxes first.
  • If you are leaving because of a technical problem, ask Technical Support first. Most reasons people cancel are fixable in a ticket.
  • If cost is the issue, a longer billing cycle saves up to 17% on shared hosting.

The 30-day money-back guarantee

Fast Hive shared hosting carries a 30-day money-back guarantee. To request a refund under it:

  1. Open a ticket with the Accounts & Billing department at My Support Tickets.
  2. Include the invoice number and the service in question.
  3. Tell us briefly what did not work. This is genuinely useful feedback, and sometimes we can fix the problem instead.
Item Refundable?
Shared hosting, within 30 daysYes, under the guarantee.
Domain registrations and renewalsGenerally not - the fee is paid to the registry as soon as it is registered.
Third-party SSL certificatesSubject to the issuing authority's own policy.
Duplicate or erroneous chargesAlways. Open a ticket with the transaction references.

The full terms are set out in the Terms of Service, which govern in the event of any difference.

Suspension and termination timeline

Stage What happens Recoverable?
Invoice issuedEverything continues normally.n/a
OverdueReminders are sent. Service still running.Yes
SuspendedWebsite offline, email stops. Data intact.Yes - pay and it reactivates.
TerminatedAccount and data removed.No

If you are heading towards suspension and cannot pay immediately, open a ticket with Accounts & Billing before the due date. A conversation in advance is far easier than a recovery afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

Will I be charged automatically?

Only if you have a stored payment method and auto-renew enabled. Both are visible and changeable in the client area.

Can I cancel and keep my domain?

Yes. They are separate services. Cancel the hosting and leave the domain active, or transfer the domain elsewhere if you prefer.

What happens to my data after cancellation?

It is removed once the service terminates. Back everything up first.

Can I reactivate a cancelled service?

A suspended service reactivates on payment. A terminated one cannot be restored - you would be starting fresh.

Is there a cancellation fee?

No. There are no setup fees and no cancellation fees. You can cancel whenever you like.

How long do refunds take to appear?

We process them promptly; how quickly it shows on your statement depends on your bank or card issuer, typically several working days.

Thinking about leaving because something is not working? Tell us first. Open a ticket with Technical Support at My Support Tickets - most cancellations we see are for problems we could have fixed in a single reply. For anything about invoices, refunds or billing cycles, use Accounts & Billing.
